Karel Bester – Live @ De Werf

Karel is a singer-songwriter from South Africa that burst onto the local music scene in 2021 with his breakout hit “Sal Jy Saam My Kom Drink”. From then onwards, Karel has carved a path throughout the South African performance circuit – performing on a near constant basis at festivals ranging from the invite-only Zeegunst Fest all the way to STRAB in Mozambique, only interrupted by regular tours between venues and private functions.

Karel’s baritone is deceptive. If it were not for the crisp production, one could be mistaken in believing any of his hit songs for a long lost set of Afrikaans Johnny Cash b-sides. Karel is a thoroughbred folk-punk hybrid with Oppikoppi heritage and American speed-country pedigree.
